Jesus Baldheaded Christ, this is excellent. Found so much more in it this time around. Bearing in mind the discssion over here, I kept wondering at what point this would prove itself to be outdated, and I never found it. A few small modifications and you could set this in today's New York, Calcutta or Tokyo and it would still work. Hell, without delving too deeply into politics, the question of how much evil can be done in the name of the greater good is a lot MORE poignant these days than it was in the 1860s
